Ceremony of the Descent from the Cross held in Nicosia on Good Friday
In Nicosia on Good Friday morning, the ceremony of the Royal Hours and the rite of the Descent of Jesus Christ from the Cross took place.
The service was held at the Church of Saint George in Agios Dometios, where hundreds of believers gathered to take part in one of the most moving services of the Orthodox tradition.
Good Friday is considered one of the most somber days in Orthodoxy. On this day, believers commemorate the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
According to tradition, in the evening, processions with the Epitaphios also take place in many cities across Cyprus, with thousands of people participating annually.
