21-year-old man stabbed in the neck in Nicosia
A 21-year-old man from India was hospitalised on Monday after sustaining a knife injury to the neck in Nicosia, police said.
According to information received from Nicosia General Hospital at around 4:20pm, the incident occurred earlier in the day at approximately 12:15pm. The injured man was taken to the Emergency Department, where he underwent surgery. His condition is described as stable and not life-threatening.
Based on preliminary findings, the victim and another individual who was accompanying him appear to have been attacked under circumstances that are still under investigation. Police believe the assault was carried out by one person who was accompanied by four others.
During an argument, one of the five individuals allegedly struck the 21-year-old in the neck with a blade, while also punching the second person in the nose.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene on foot, while the remaining individuals stayed behind to assist the injured man.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its investigations.
