The incident occurred this morning when a request for police assistance was made regarding the enforcement of a court order for eviction from an apartment in Limassol. The tenant had refused to vacate the premises. At the same time, a report was received that the 61-year-old homeowner claimed to have doused herself in gasoline and threatened to set herself on fire.

Officers from the central police station of Limassol and a fire brigade team responded to the scene to address the potential fire hazard.

Upon inspecting the residence, the homeowner denied attempting self-immolation, stating that she had not doused herself in gasoline and had no intention of harming herself. However, she vehemently refused to leave the house and also assaulted a police officer.

The aggressive homeowner was apprehended by law enforcement. The police are investigating her for obstructing a court bailiff, disobeying a court order, and assaulting a police officer.

Meanwhile, the police have informed the Social Welfare Service about the need to provide assistance and find accommodation for the woman, who appears to be in a difficult situation.
