The Limassol police have launched an investigation into an incident involving an attack on a coach during a football academy match for children under 12 and have already begun questioning witnesses.

According to the police, the coach of the Aris team was attacked by a parent during a game against Apollon, which took place at the Kalogeropoulio Stadium. It is reported that during the match the coach made a remark to the opposing players, which led to a verbal altercation between him and the parents of Apollon players. Eyewitnesses stated that one of the parents pushed the coach, causing him to fall to the ground.

The injured coach was taken to a private clinic, where he was diagnosed with a broken collarbone. He remained in the hospital for treatment.

The incident was condemned by both Aris Limassol and the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). In a statement, Aris emphasized that violence in any form is unacceptable, and the CFA was urged to take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents and to ensure the safety of coaches while preserving children’s genuine love for football.

The CFA, in turn, announced that it is conducting its own investigation to fully establish the circumstances of the incident, and any possible violations under police jurisdiction will be properly investigated.
