In Larnaca, a 19-year-old soldier was admitted to intensive care after being hit by his friend.

In Larnaca, a 19-year-old serviceman of the National Guard ended up in intensive care in extremely serious condition after being struck by his friend’s car. The incident occurred in the evening at the Mackenzie Beach parking lot around 23:30.

At the scene, there were three conscripted soldiers: two were inside the car, and one was walking. According to police, the driver accidentally hit his friend. He tried to approach him to give him a ride but misjudged the speed. As a result, the car struck the victim with its right side, causing the young man to fall and sustain serious injuries.

The victim was immediately taken to Larnaca General Hospital and then, given the severity of his injuries, transferred to Nicosia General Hospital. Doctors intubated the serviceman and continue to fight for his life.

The driver underwent alcohol and drug tests, the results of which were negative. The Larnaca traffic police confiscated the car, which showed no visible damage from the impact, and interrogated the driver. An arrest warrant has already been issued but has not yet been executed.
