Foreign National Drowns Near Aphrodite's Rock in Cyprus

A young foreign national drowned near Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite's Rock, in Cyprus this past weekend.

The incident took place on July 27. A 26-year-old foreigner, who was a permanent resident of Limassol, took a taxi to Paphos airport, where he met a 28-year-old foreign woman. On their way back to Limassol, the couple decided to stop for a swim at Petra tou Romiou.

At around 1:30 AM, the woman alerted the police that she had lost sight of her boyfriend while swimming. Officers and staff from the Paphos Police Department quickly arrived at the scene.

A search operation was initiated, and the body of the young man was eventually discovered and identified. An autopsy confirmed that he had drowned.
