Dead seal found off the coast of Paphos
A dead seal was discovered this morning in the marine area near Neo Chorio in the Paphos district. Local residents reported the find, after which the information was passed to the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, whose staff promptly arrived at the scene.
The animal's body will be collected by specialists for necessary examinations. A necropsy is planned to determine the exact cause of death.
This case occurred just days after another similar incident, where a dead dolphin-like creature was found in the Faros area. The situation is causing concern among residents and environmental organizations, who are drawing attention to the state of the marine ecosystem.
Specialists are considering various theories for the seal's death, ranging from natural causes to the possible impact of human activity.
