Wednesday promises to be the hottest day of the current heatwave in Cyprus

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Cyprus is expecting extreme heat — according to forecasts, daytime temperatures will reach 45 °C in the central regions of the country. This will be a record for the current period of abnormal heat.
The temperature distribution will be as follows: on the eastern and southern coasts, maximum values will reach around 38 °C, while on the western and northern coasts, as well as in mountainous areas — about 36 °C.
At night, temperatures will drop to 27 °C in coastal and inland areas, and to 25 °C in the mountains.
The Meteorological Service has already issued a “red” warning due to dangerously high air temperatures.
In the morning of August 13, publications such as Cyprus Mail and KNEWS described Wednesday as “the peak day” of the ongoing heatwave, noting that it would be the hottest day so far.
The forecast for the following days indicates a continued tense weather situation on Thursday: the temperature is expected to remain high, but with a gradual decline anticipated on Friday and Saturday. At the end of the week, cloudiness and even short showers in the mountains may occur.
