Advisor to the President becomes the new head of the Central Bank of Cyprus
President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, has appointed a new head of the country's Central Bank. The appointee is Christodoulos Patsalidis.
The new head of the Central Bank has extensive experience in senior positions in the banking sector, having worked at the Central Bank of Cyprus and continued his career in the private sector. During 2018-2019, he served as the chairman of the board of directors of the Association of Cypriot Banks.
In October 2020, Christodoulos Patsalidis left the business sector and provided consulting services in banking, capital management, financial technology, and insurance in Cyprus and abroad.
In March 2023, Christodoulos Patsalidis was appointed as a special advisor to the President of the Republic of Cyprus on economic matters.
The new head of the Central Bank is an economist by education, holding a doctoral degree in economics from the University of London.
Christodoulos Patsalidis will assume his duties on April 11, replacing the current head of the regulator, Konstantinos Herodotou.
Nikos Christodoulidis thanked the former head of the Central Bank for his services during a critical period for the country's economy.
