Ryanair will abandon paper boarding passes from November

Starting from November 2025, Ryanair will completely phase out paper boarding passes and switch to using only electronic ones.

From November 12, all passengers will be required to receive their boarding documents via the myRyanair app. Printing boarding passes at the airport will no longer be available, except for flights to countries where electronic boarding passes are restricted. According to the company, about 80% of customers already use digital passes, and completely abandoning paper will save over 300 tons of paper annually.

Ryanair warns that passengers need to install the app in advance and ensure their smartphones are charged. Without access to an electronic boarding pass, boarding may be difficult. To reduce risks, airport staff will be on duty to manually verify information if necessary.

Abandoning paper passes also means the elimination of the fee for printing them at the airport, which was previously charged to passengers as an additional service.
