Elderly Cypriots Recovering After Viper Bites

Two elderly individuals in Cyprus were bitten by vipers, and doctors have provided updates on their conditions.

According to the public health organization Okypy, a 74-year-old man from Nicosia was bitten on his upper limb by a snake on April 22 while in a field near Limassol. The second incident occurred on April 25, when an 80-year-old man from a village in Limassol was bitten on the leg by a viper while picking capers.

Both patients received antivenom treatment. The 74-year-old was transferred to the intensive care unit at Limassol General Hospital, where he was closely monitored for 24 hours after receiving the antivenom.

The 80-year-old man was first taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital and later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital. On Sunday, doctors reported that his condition was stable and steadily improving, while the 74-year-old man was already discharged from Limassol General Hospital.
