Cyprus Police Seeks Witnesses to Fatal Traffic Accident in Kokkinotrimithia
A fatal traffic accident occurred in Cyprus on Friday morning, resulting in the death of an elderly woman.
According to the police press office, the accident happened today around 6:00 a.m. in Kokkinotrimithia. According to the investigation, a 23-year-old man was driving a car on Irinisa and Filias Street when he hit 77-year-old pedestrian Eleni Stavrinidou.
The injured woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but unfortunately, she could not be saved. Doctors pronounced her dead.
The car driver initially fled the scene but voluntarily surrendered at the Kokkinotrimithia police station around 8:00 a.m. He was handed over to the Nicosia Traffic Police for further investigation.
The police urge anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the nearest police station or the Nicosia Traffic Police at 22802023 or the citizen hotline at 1460.
