The Cyprus Animal Party Called to Abandon the “Tradition of Smoke and Meat”

On a day that many are accustomed to associating with smoke, meat, and an “obligatory” tradition, the Cyprus Animal Party delivered an alternative message. The statement emphasizes that modern society should rethink established habits and not take them for granted.
Party representatives stated that they do not support celebrations linked to the killing of animals and urged people to choose food “that nourishes without causing harm.” In their view, the development of society is connected with growing awareness rather than the thoughtless repetition of traditions.
The address highlights that today there is greater awareness of animals’ ability to feel pain, the impact of excessive meat consumption on health, and the environmental burden associated with dietary habits.
The party called on island residents to try an alternative approach to nutrition for at least one day — to choose plant-based food, noting that any major changes begin with a personal decision.
