Parties and animal welfare groups accuse government of inaction on animal protection

The Animal Party Cyprus and the Green Party, together with the organizations "Cyprus Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals" and "Green Shield," have submitted a memorandum to the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, citing "unjustified government inaction" in the field of animal protection and welfare.
As noted in the statement, election promises—specifically Chapter 7 of the program concerning animal welfare—have yet to be implemented.
"This is not just inconsistency; it is institutional indifference," the Animal Party stated, demanding immediate practical measures, a clear timetable for fulfilling commitments, and public accountability.
The authors of the memorandum emphasize that a country's international image is defined not by declarations but by real actions within the state, and they urge the authorities to move from promises to concrete steps.
