Cyprus Parliament supports changes to car insurance law for elderly drivers
The Parliamentary Committee on Transport has supported amendments to the law regulating car insurance for elderly drivers in Cyprus. The changes aim to limit the ability of insurance companies to refuse coverage solely based on the driver's age.
According to the proposal, insurance companies will be able to introduce additional requirements or checks but will not be able to automatically deny an insurance policy to older individuals.
The initiators of the amendments note that many elderly drivers face difficulties in obtaining insurance despite decades of driving experience and a lack of violations.
Discussion of the bill will continue in parliament. If the amendments are finally passed, they should ensure fairer insurance conditions for elderly drivers.
