Another Fatal Accident in Cyprus: Motorcyclist Killed in Larnaca Crash
Yet another deadly road accident has occurred in Cyprus — this time in Larnaca, where a 57-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life.
According to a police statement, the collision happened late Tuesday night at around 10:20 p.m. A 46-year-old tourist from the United Kingdom was driving along Afksentiou Avenue in Oroklini, heading toward Dhekelia with his wife. While changing lanes to the right, his car collided with an oncoming motorcycle ridden by Petros Christodoulou, a 57-year-old Greek Cypriot.
The impact left the motorcyclist with critical injuries. He was rushed to Larnaca General Hospital by ambulance, but despite the medical team’s efforts, he was pronounced dead at around 11:15 p.m.
The tourist, who was driving a rental car, was arrested and taken into custody. He underwent tests for alcohol and drugs, both of which came back negative. The Larnaca Traffic Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
