Date Set for the Next Parliamentary Elections in Cyprus
The next parliamentary elections in Cyprus are scheduled for May 24, 2026. The date was jointly agreed upon by the parliament, the president, and the police.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the current parliament will be dissolved on April 23, 2026. The official announcement of the elections will be made by the Minister of Interior and published in the official gazette on April 24, 2026.
The Ministry also stated that candidates for the parliamentary elections will be officially registered on May 6, 2026.
For context, the last parliamentary elections in Cyprus took place on May 30, 2021. During that election, 56 out of the 80 parliamentary seats were contested. The remaining 24 seats are reserved for the Turkish Cypriot community, which has not participated in the political life of the Republic since 1974.
