A 23-year-old woman was arrested in Cyprus for attempting to smuggle cocaine hidden on her body and in her underwear

At Larnaca International Airport, a 23-year-old woman was detained while trying to smuggle cocaine hidden on her body and in her underwear. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, during the inspection of passengers arriving from abroad.
According to the police, during the search customs officers found nine capsules containing about 88 grams of cocaine hidden in the suspect’s bra, as well as one package with 452 grams of the drug concealed in her underwear. The woman was taken to the hospital, where an X-ray revealed additional capsules she had swallowed before the flight.
The total weight of the seized substance exceeded half a kilogram. After a medical examination, the suspect was handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), which is conducting further investigation.
Law enforcement authorities noted that Larnaca Airport remains one of the key control points in the fight against international drug trafficking. In recent months, there has been an increase in attempts to import cocaine and other illegal substances into Cyprus. The authorities reminded that drug smuggling is punishable by long prison sentences and heavy fines.
