Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Cyprus for Importing Methamphetamine

The Larnaca Criminal Court has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 12 years in prison for importing and possessing 1.26 kilograms of methamphetamine. This is the third sentencing of large-scale drug couriers in just two days.

The court determined that the drugs were discovered in the man’s luggage upon his arrival at Larnaca Airport in September 2023. The methamphetamine was packed into nine plastic bags and hidden within three wooden pallets. Following his arrest, the man was remanded in custody, and the case was referred to the Larnaca Criminal Court.

The investigation was conducted by the Larnaca Anti-Narcotics Unit.

Earlier this week, the court handed down sentences of 12 and 13 years to two young individuals who had arrived in Cyprus with significant quantities of cannabis.
