Rare Video of a Mouflon Giving Birth Filmed in Cyprus
A remarkable video has gone viral on social media, showing a mouflon giving birth in a forest in Cyprus.
The footage of this incredible moment was shared on a Facebook page, capturing one of the island's iconic animals.
It’s not often that one can film a mouflon in the wild, as these animals are very shy and move swiftly through the forested slopes of the Troodos and Paphos mountains. They are typically spotted in the Tripylos area.
Considered one of the most photogenic creatures in Cyprus, the mouflon was once on the brink of extinction. Just 25 years ago, their numbers had dwindled to a mere 1,200 individuals.
Today, thanks to dedicated breeding programs aimed at restoring their population, the mouflon numbers have rebounded to an estimated 3,000.
