An employee of the Russian Embassy in Cyprus found dead

In Nicosia, one of the senior officials of the Russian Embassy was found dead inside the embassy building.
According to representatives of the embassy who informed the Cypriot police, the man took his own life in his office and left a suicide note that was sent to Moscow. Cypriot law enforcement authorities were not allowed inside the diplomatic building, and the body was handed over to the authorities outside the compound. Investigative actions inside the embassy were prohibited due to the diplomatic status of the facility.
It is reported that the police were notified several hours after the body was discovered. A forensic examination was scheduled for the following Monday.
The diplomat’s death occurred the day after the disappearance of former Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner, who had been living in Cyprus and was declared wanted. No official connection between these events has been confirmed.
