A scandal has erupted in Cyprus over a collage featuring works by artist Giorgos Gavriil

A public debate continues in Cyprus over an image that has been actively circulating on social media in recent days and was presented as a work by artist Giorgos Gavriil.
The artist himself stated that this image is not his independent work. According to him, it is a collage composed of fragments from his various works that had been published earlier. Gavriil emphasized that he did not create this piece in this form and did not give consent for its distribution.
Amid the unfolding scandal, Giorgos Gavriil announced that he had decided to withdraw his works from an exhibition held at the Blue Iris gallery in Paphos. According to him, after the public backlash began, a tense atmosphere developed around the exhibition, and the gallery owner started receiving threats. The artist noted that the police had been informed of the situation.
