Cyprus warns of counterfeit €50 banknotes
The National Banknote Analysis Center of the Police Forensic Services is warning citizens about the circulation of counterfeit €50 banknotes.
It is reported that the detected fake banknotes have serial numbers starting with the Latin letters WR.
According to the police, such banknotes have already been identified in all regions of the free areas of Cyprus.
Authorities urge citizens to carefully check cash during transactions, and recommend that shop and business owners use banknote detectors approved by the European Central Bank before accepting bills.
If a suspicious banknote is detected, it should be withheld and reported to the nearest police station or criminal investigation department.
