The Cyprus Police (Αστυνομία Κύπρου) has announced an awareness and intensified road surveillance week across the island. The campaign will begin on Monday, April 13, 2026, and will last until Sunday, April 19, 2026.

As part of the campaign, intensified road checks will be carried out with a particular focus on compliance with speed limits. The initiative is being conducted simultaneously at a pan-European level in cooperation between the Cyprus Police and the European Roads Policing Network ROADPOL (ROADPOL).

The goal is to prevent serious and fatal road accidents; the official statement emphasized that speeding remains one of the leading causes of such accidents. Checks will include speed measurements and other standard road police control measures.

Practical benefit for residents in Cyprus: during the campaign period, drivers are advised to plan their trips in advance and strictly adhere to the speed limit and traffic rules. This will reduce the risk of accidents and avoid administrative consequences if violations are detected.

The Cyprus Police informs that the control measures are preventive in nature and are carried out in the interest of improving safety on the island's roads.
