Cyprus cancels evacuation order near Akrotiri base
The Ministry of Interior of Cyprus has announced the cancellation of the evacuation order in the area of the British military base of Akrotiri.
Previously, residents were evacuated from this zone for 11 days following an alleged drone attack linked to the Hezbollah group.
The ministry emphasized that despite the cancellation of the evacuation, the area remains on high alert, and the situation will be constantly assessed. If necessary, the authorities are ready to promptly take additional measures.
The Mayor of Kourion and the Deputy Mayor of Akrotiri have already been notified of the decision.
Civil defense teams will continue to patrol the area.
Meanwhile, the British side has not yet announced whether the decision to cancel the evacuation extends to the territories under the control of the British base of Akrotiri.
