Today, solemn services, events, and parades are taking place in all cities across Cyprus to mark the national anniversary of April 1, 1955.
In Nicosia, President Nikos Christodoulides and House President Annita Demetriou attended a festive service at the Cathedral of Apostle Barnabas. The keynote speech was delivered by historian and author Giannis Lambrou.
Following the service, the President visited the Imprisoned Graves (Fylakismena Mnimata) memorial, where Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus conducted a memorial service at the heroes' graves, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
In the afternoon, the President will also speak at an event organized by the Association of 1955–1959 Liberation Struggle Participants, which will be held at the "Eleftheria" sports complex.
