New phone scam scheme in Cyprus
Cyprus Police are warning of a new wave of telephone fraud.
According to law enforcement, scammers call from foreign numbers and pose as employees of financial platforms. Using an automated response system, they ask victims to press certain buttons on the phone, allegedly to confirm payments or transactions.
In reality, the goal of such calls is to gain access to personal data and bank accounts.
Police urge citizens not to follow instructions in such calls and to always verify information only through official communication channels.
