17-Year-Old Migrant Suspected of Raping an 80-Year-Old Tourist in Cyprus
In Ayia Napa, a 17-year-old migrant has been arrested on suspicion of raping an 80-year-old tourist. Earlier, the teenager had sought asylum in Cyprus.
According to local media citing police sources, the elderly woman, who fell victim to the assault, reported the incident to law enforcement last Thursday. According to the victim's account, she was a victim of rape.
On Sunday, the police arrested the suspect, identified as a 17-year-old asylum seeker. The young man has been remanded in custody for six days.
Little is known about the grandmother who suffered the attack, except that she is a tourist who came to Cyprus for vacation. No other information about the victim and the assailant is provided.
