Rain, fog, and dust impair visibility on Paphos and Limassol roads
In Cyprus on Saturday around 12:00, heavy short-term rainfall and high dust concentrations worsened driving conditions on several sections of the road network, SigmaLive reports. Police are issuing safety recommendations to drivers.
According to the publication, the most affected areas are along the Paphos–Limassol highway, as well as roads in the Paphos and Limassol districts, where visibility is limited due to heavy rain and suspended dust. In some sections, water runoff and accumulation are noted, making the surface slippery and increasing the risk of aquaplaning.
A significant reduction in visibility is also observed on the roads between Moniatis and Troodos due to thick fog and atmospheric dust.
Cyprus Police recommend that drivers exercise extreme caution: reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, and keep headlights on. The department also warns of possible delays and changing road conditions; if necessary, alternative routes should be chosen, and road conditions should be checked before departure.
Residents and visitors to the island are advised to follow official weather reports and law enforcement updates to plan their trips and ensure personal safety.
