Banks in Cyprus to close for five days for Easter
All banks in the Republic of Cyprus will temporarily cease operations during the Easter holidays. According to the Central Bank of Cyprus, branches will be closed for five consecutive days — from April 10 to April 14.
The first non-working day will be Good Friday (April 10). This is followed by the regular weekend, while April 13 (Easter Monday) and April 14 (Easter Tuesday) are public holidays. Banks will resume operations only on Wednesday, April 15.
ATMs, mobile apps, and online banking will continue to function normally. However, some banking transactions will be processed with a delay.
Customers are advised to withdraw cash in advance, as ATMs may be heavily used during the holidays. It should also be noted that interbank transfers sent on Thursday evening or later will likely only be processed after the holidays.
Operations requiring a personal visit to the bank — such as opening accounts, applying for loans, or exchanging large amounts of currency — will also have to be postponed until mid-next week.
Orthodox Easter in 2026 is celebrated on April 12 and is traditionally one of the major holidays in Cyprus. During this period, many government institutions and shops operate on a modified schedule.
