Nurses and Midwives Strike in Northern Cyprus Postponed for Two Months
The TRNC Council of Ministers has postponed today’s planned strike by the Turkish Cypriot Nurses and Midwives Union. The strike, initially set for today, could now take place in 60 days. The relevant decision was published in the "Official Gazette."
Previously, it was announced that the Turkish Cypriot Nurses and Midwives Union had planned a four-hour warning strike in the oncology, hematology, pediatric oncology, and day chemotherapy departments. The protest was scheduled to occur today, September 20, from 08:00 to 12:00.
According to the official document, the Council of Ministers, based on the powers granted by paragraph (3) of Article 16 of the Collective Bargaining, Strikes, and Referendums Law No. 42/1996, decided to postpone the strike initiated by the Turkish Cypriot Nurses and Midwives Union in medical facilities under the TRNC Ministry of Health on September 20, 2024, for 60 days.
