Festive events for Children's Day and National Sovereignty held in Lefkoşa
A solemn ceremony was held in the parliament garden in Lefkoşa as part of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Primary Education. It was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, the Minister of Education, deputies, teachers, and students.
The holiday began with a parade of local primary school students accompanied by a military band. Official speeches were delivered during the ceremony, followed by children's performances.
The program included dance numbers, choir performances, poetry readings, rhythmic and gymnastic shows prepared by students from various schools.
The Speaker of the Parliament emphasized the importance of the holiday and noted that the future of the Turkish Cypriots is linked to the younger generation. The Minister of Education also congratulated the children and highlighted the role of education in the development of society.
A female student spoke on behalf of the schoolchildren, expressing a desire to live in a world filled with children's laughter rather than the sounds of weapons.
Festive activities will continue, with a children's art exhibition scheduled to open later that day.
