The first GBYF Cyprus youth innovation competition started in Lefke

The European University of Lefke is hosting North Cyprus's first-ever "New Ideas of Young Minds (GBYF Cyprus)" project competition, organized with the support of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTHK) and the Turkish Informatics Association. The event has brought together student teams from across the island and has become an important platform for developing the innovative potential of youth.
The competition features 165 projects from 12 universities, developed by approximately 350 students. The works are divided into two main categories: software, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms, as well as engineering and sustainable technology solutions.
The evaluation of projects takes place in two stages with the participation of about 70 jury members. In the first stage, the three best projects in each category will be selected, after which the finalists will present their developments through presentations.
Based on the results of the second round, three winners of the competition will be determined. Protocol representatives will also participate in the voting process, including President Tufan Erhürman, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Ali Murat Başçeri, and Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
The organizers note that holding GBYF Cyprus in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the first time gives the event special significance and strengthens its role in the development of student innovation.
