In Kyrenia, a car hit pedestrians and crashed into a store — 4 people injured
On August 30, around 13:00 in Kyrenia, at the intersection of Ziya Rızkı and Atatürk streets, a car driven by Didem Avcıl (K-45, license VP 023) while turning onto Atatürk hit pedestrian Isabella Dankowska (K-54) on the crosswalk, after which the driver lost control and the vehicle mounted the sidewalk.
The car collided with a streetlight pole, a metal guardrail, a parked car with license TME 855, and several vehicles in the taxi park parking lot. Two women walking on the sidewalk were also injured — Nilgün Asilyüce (K-30) and Galime Akgün (K-31). On the way, the vehicle damaged 14 suitcases placed in front of a store; TME 855 then collided with another parked car.
All four injured — Didem Avcıl, Isabella Dankowska, Nilgün Asilyüce, and Galime Akgün — were taken to Dr. Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia and admitted to the surgical department for observation. According to law enforcement, the investigation of the incident is ongoing.
For residents: temporary traffic jams and restrictions are possible near the Ziya Rızkı and Atatürk intersection due to investigation work; drivers are advised to use alternative routes and exercise caution near crosswalks.
