Cash payments abolished in Gönyeli–Alayköy public transport
In the Gönyeli–Alayköy district, a new fare payment system — Adakart — was launched on April 1, 2026. Now passengers can no longer pay with cash on public transport.
According to Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, the new system aims to increase the convenience and accessibility of urban transport.
Now there are three ways to pay for a trip:
- with an Adakart card,
- via a mobile app,
- with a contactless bank card.
Payment is made without additional commission, and the process itself has become faster and safer.
Adakart cards can be purchased at special kiosks around the city or at municipality ticket offices. You can top up your balance through kiosks or at Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell communication centers.
The municipality noted that the implementation of the system is part of a program to modernize city services and improve the quality of public transport.
