Scientists examined how coffee and fish affect chronic pain

Researchers from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland studied how the consumption of coffee and fatty fish is related to the perception of pain. Over two years, they observed 205 healthy individuals aged 60 to 88, assessing their diet and levels of chronic pain on a 10-point scale.
According to the results, those who increased their coffee consumption experienced an average increase in pain intensity of 6.56 points. In contrast, participants who began eating fatty fish more often reported a decrease in chronic pain intensity of approximately 4.45 points.
The scientists emphasize that the findings should be interpreted with caution: this is an observational study, not direct proof of cause and effect. The authors state that further research is needed to confirm the relationship between diet, coffee, fish, and pain levels.
