Özersay: Those who received or agreed to receive a fake diploma may be subject to a serious criminal offense
The Chairman of Halkın Partisi, Kudret Özersay, commented on the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the fake diploma scandal.
According to him, the court will decide on the possible transfer of the case to the Assize Court. However, if the case is referred to a higher criminal court, it will strengthen the position that responsibility lies not only with the person who issued the fake diploma but also with the person who received it or agreed to receive it.
"If the case is transferred to the Assize Court, the thesis that not only the issuance but also the receipt or agreement to receive a fake diploma constitutes a serious criminal offense will become even more significant, and the likelihood of a prison sentence will increase," Özersay noted.
He emphasized that he was not speaking about a specific case, but about all cases related to fake diplomas in general.
Özersay added that he respects the judicial process, which is why his party is currently refraining from frequent public comments.
