Organs of British Tourist Who Died in Northern Cyprus Save Three Lives

The organs of a British tourist who tragically died while on holiday in Northern Cyprus have given the gift of life to three people.

According to the Turkish News Agency-Cyprus (TAK), Meral Yükseliş, the country’s organ transplant coordinator, reported that 55-year-old Emma Jane Perry suffered a brain hemorrhage during her stay in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). She was treated at Suat Günsel Hospital in Kyrenia, where doctors declared her brain dead on April 24.

Following the devastating news, her family made the courageous and compassionate decision to donate her organs. As a result, Emma’s kidneys were successfully transplanted to two patients in Northern Cyprus, while her liver was sent to Turkey to help save another life.

Meral Yükseliş emphasized the life-saving power of organ donation, stating that Emma Jane Perry now lives on in three people. "She will always be remembered with deep gratitude and respect," Yükseliş said, extending heartfelt wishes for good health to the recipients who now have a second chance at life.

Since 2019, Northern Cyprus has performed 66 kidney transplants—34 from living donors and 32 from deceased ones—as well as four heart transplants.
