Counterfeit money detected in Northern Cyprus — serial numbers published
The Northern Cyprus police have warned about the circulation of counterfeit banknotes and published their serial numbers.
The investigation began after an incident at a gas station on the Güzelyurt – Kalkanlı road, where a man paid with a fake 100-dollar bill and received change.
The suspect was detained, and searches revealed counterfeit Turkish Lira, Euro, and US Dollars in his possession.
The police do not rule out that some of the counterfeit money may have already entered circulation, and therefore urge:
- banks and exchange offices
- businesses and shops
- ordinary citizens
to be extremely careful when accepting cash.
Special attention is recommended for the serial numbers of the bills already published by law enforcement agencies.

The police ask to carefully check cash and contact the nearest station in case of suspicion.
