At the initiative of the presidential administration, a large-scale afforestation campaign was held in the TRNC as part of the "Yeniden Yeşil Kıbrıs" ("Green Cyprus Again") project.

According to the organizers, the tree-planting campaign was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Forestry Department, and municipalities. Communication support for the project was provided by Telsim and Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell.

18 municipalities took part in the action, and planting took place simultaneously at 27 different sites across the country. A total of 14,300 saplings were planted. The events were attended by officials, schoolchildren, residents, as well as representatives of various organizations and institutions.

TRNC President Tufan Erhürman, speaking to journalists at one of the tree-planting sites on Aydemet Eşevler Street, noted that the project has not only environmental but also social significance.

"When we unite, there is nothing we cannot achieve," the President emphasized, noting the importance of cooperation between various state structures and society.

The President's wife, Nilden Bektaş Erhürman, said that preparations for the project lasted about three months. According to her, sites where regular care and watering are possible were specifically selected for planting so that the saplings could take root.

She also stressed that the initiative is just the beginning of a long-term program.

"Our goal is to make Cyprus green again. This is not just a slogan, but a real goal," said Nilden Bektaş Erhürman.

According to her, the organizers adhere to the principle of "fewer, but with a guarantee of growth" to avoid the loss of saplings and ensure their further development. Special attention is also paid to the participation of schools to foster environmental awareness in children from an early age.

In the future, the project is planned to be expanded and continued, and regular care will be provided for the planted trees.
