Truck overturns on Famagusta — Nicosia highway, two injured
In Northern Cyprus, on the Famagusta — Nicosia highway between the Korkuteli and Dörtyol junctions, a traffic accident occurred this morning around 09:30: a truck with registration plate SF 988, driven by 24-year-old Muhammet Şahin, veered off the left side of the road and overturned after hitting a road sign.
According to police information, the driver lost control, the vehicle first crashed into the post of one sign, then hit another sign and flipped onto its left side. Two people were injured in the incident — the driver and a passenger, Cumali Çiçek. Both sustained injuries and, according to medical indications, could have been taken to the hospital, but they refused transportation for examination.
Residents and drivers are advised to exercise increased caution on this section of the highway, observe the speed limit, and maintain a safe distance. A police investigation into the accident is ongoing; drivers were reminded of the need to seek medical help in a timely manner and document damages for subsequent official procedures.
