Donor Organs of 47-Year-Old Man Save Lives of Four People

In Northern Cyprus, the donor organs of a 47-year-old patient, who was declared brain dead, have helped save the lives of four people.
Following the family's consent for donation, a heart transplant and two kidney transplants were performed on three patients in the TRNC, while the liver was sent to Turkey for transplantation.
The heart was transplanted into a 29-year-old man who had previously lived with an artificial heart. The two kidneys were received by men aged 43 and 62.
According to doctors Necmi Bayraktar and Hasan Birtan, the condition of all patients after the operations is assessed as stable.
The heart transplant operation lasted 8–10 hours, while the kidney transplants took approximately three and two-and-a-half hours. Medics note that the early postoperative period is progressing without complications.
The doctors also highlighted the symbolism of the operations coinciding with Medicine Day on March 14.
