Four unions announce warning strike; Missing Persons Committee employees also join protest

Four unions in Northern Cyprus have announced a warning strike on Monday and Tuesday in support of Ektam workers.
The unions involved are:
- Kıbrıs Türk Öğretmenler Sendikası (KTÖS),
- Kıbrıs Türk Orta Eğitim Öğretmenler Sendikası (KTOEÖS),
- Kıbrıs Türk Amme Memurları Sendikası (KTAMS),
- Kıbrıs Türk Kamu Görevlileri Sendikası (KAMUSEN).
In a joint statement, the unions noted that children were forced to spend their February holidays not resting, but together with their parents on duty in tents. They called the current situation irresponsible and stated the necessity of protest actions.
Where the strikes will take place:
On Monday, from 14:00 to 15:30, teachers' unions will strike in the following schools:
Pile Türk İlkokulu, Beyarmudu İlkokulu, Türkmenköy İlkokulu, Güvercinlik RRD İlkokulu, Çayönü-İncirli İlkokulu, Akdoğan Dr. Fazıl Küçük İlkokulu, Dörtyol İlkokulu, and Polatpaşa Lisesi.
On Tuesday, from 13:00 to 15:30, the KTAMS and KAMUSEN unions have announced a warning strike in public institutions within the region.
Strike at the Committee on Missing Persons
Additionally, employees of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP), which operates under the presidency, have also announced a strike.
The reason is a 43-day delay in salary payments for 52 committee workers.
According to Güven Bengihan, Chairman of the Federation of Cyprus Workers and Laborers Unions (KİEF) and head of KTAMS, the responsibility for the non-payment lies with the Ministry of Finance, which does not recognize the signature of the presidency administration.
The union intends to issue a statement tomorrow at 9:30 in front of the Ministry of Finance building.
