In Northern Cyprus, a man is being tried for allegedly spying on another person. A jealous woman hired a private detective: for 90 thousand lira, he was supposed to monitor her former lover.

The man, who provided private detective services for money, was caught in Kyrenia after a complaint of harassment from the surveillance target.

The detainee was brought to court on charges of "violation of privacy and general disturbance of the peace."

According to the investigation, in January 2024, a 50-year-old woman in Nicosia hired the suspect, Onar Onaylı, to find out the address of a 50-year-old man - her former boyfriend, with whom they recently broke up.

An arrest warrant for the suspect was issued on February 23, 2024. The man was identified by the Kyrenia Police Department on March 8 and handed over to the judicial department of the Nicosia Police Department. He has already confessed and stated that he works legally as a private detective in Turkey.

The police believe that if the suspect is released, he will continue to engage in illegal activities, so they requested his detention. As a result, the judge sentenced the detective to prison for a period not exceeding one month.
