Limassol Resident Scammed Out of Over 11,000 Euros by Crypto Fraudsters

A 47-year-old man from Limassol has become the latest victim of cryptocurrency fraud, losing over €11,000 to scammers who promised high returns on his investment.

According to a police report filed on Monday, the victim came across a website offering consulting services for cryptocurrency investments.

After submitting an inquiry, he was contacted by an unidentified individual who guaranteed financial profits. The scammer instructed him to grant access to his computer to assist with setting up an account on a specific cryptocurrency platform.

Following the scammer's guidance, the victim transferred a total of €11,591.42 in four separate transactions to his personal e-wallet. However, the same day, the funds were transferred out of his account without his authorization.

The scammers also asked him to deposit additional funds, but instead, he immediately reported the incident to the police.
