Prisoners Clash Over Food Quality at Nicosia Central Prison
A mass brawl broke out at the central prison in Nicosia, sparked by complaints from inmates regarding the quality of their meals.
Preliminary reports indicate that the inmates were protesting the deteriorating food conditions. Tensions began to rise during breakfast and escalated by lunchtime. The situation spiraled out of control when prisoners started vandalizing the kitchen.
Local media report that two individuals sustained injuries during the scuffle in the prison kitchen, and one of the victims was taken to the hospital by ambulance due to the severity of their injuries.
In recent months, inmates have repeatedly voiced their dissatisfaction with the food quality, raising the issue within the prisoners' association.
