In Cyprus, new "Park and Ride" zones and "Pame Express" routes will be introduced in three more cities: Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca.

This was announced yesterday during a presentation of the government's goals for 2024 by the country's president, Nikos Hristodoulides.

According to the head of state, the problem of traffic affects Cypriots every day, as 750,000 vehicles drive on the country's roads, and forecasts suggest that this number will increase to 800,000 by 2030.

The president noted the very promising results of launching the pilot project "Pame Express," as it removes about 400 cars from Nicosia's road network every day.

In addition, in 2024, the installation of 300 new bus stops will be completed, and dedicated bike lanes and bus lanes will be created.

Recall that the Park & Ride system was launched on a pilot basis at the entrance to Nicosia on September 7. Residents of Cyprus were offered to leave their cars in the free parking lot at the GSP stadium, which accommodates 1500 places, and transfer to the free Pame Express bus, which reaches the city center in 22 minutes on a dedicated lane.
