In Protaras, a promenade costing around 20 million euros is planned to be built in the coming years, creating one of the largest and most beautiful promenades in Cyprus. The project to expand the coastal pedestrian path along the sea has received final approval from the Department of the Environment.

The project's cost is approximately 20 million euros, with 66% of the expenses allocated from the state budget, and the remaining portion covered by the Paralimni Municipality.

According to the mayor of the city, the construction tender is expected to be announced in mid-2024 to commence work by the end of the year. Assuming no issues arise, the project is estimated to take about two years for completion (approximately 24 months).

The length of the new extension to the pedestrian path will be 9 kilometers. It will start from the new harbor, expected to be operational next summer, and reach the administrative borders of the Paralimni and Deryneia municipalities, near the coastal outpost of the United Nations Organization.

After the completion of the pedestrian path, it will be possible to travel from Kapparis to Protaras without a car, using a bicycle, skateboard, or electric scooter, as stated by the mayor.

The project will be a continuation of the third stage in forming the coastal zone of the Paralimni Municipality, starting from the Golden Coast area.

According to the plan, it includes a pedestrian and bicycle path, small squares, resting areas, urban amenities, and tree planting.

The total width of the pedestrian and bicycle paths will be 8 meters (5 meters for the pedestrian path and 3 meters for the bicycle path).
