Cell Phone Explodes in Student's Pocket at Nicosia School
In a startling incident at a secondary school in Nicosia, a student’s cell phone exploded while it was in his pocket. Fortunately, the quick-thinking student managed to throw the phone away just in time and emerged unscathed.
According to AlphaNews, which cited Loizos Konstantinou, the Director of Secondary Education, the explosion occurred on Friday morning during recess. It seems the phone overheated, leading to the unexpected blast.
"The mobile phone started to smoke, likely due to a minor internal explosion. Thankfully, the student was able to take it out of his pocket and drop it without sustaining any injuries," the source shared with the publication.
The student’s parents retrieved the damaged phone and returned it to the store where it was purchased to investigate the cause of the malfunction.
