This week in Limassol, the First Independent Palestinian Film Festival will take place, showcasing Palestinian culture and cinematography.

The festival will run from February 15th to 22nd at four venues in Limassol. It will feature a carefully curated selection of short, feature-length, and documentary films predominantly created by Palestinian filmmakers. Additionally, two discussions led by local experts on cinema and colonialism are planned.

"By organizing the First Independent Palestinian Film Festival in Limassol, we aim to create a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, and joint initiatives that contribute to a more informed and interconnected global community. Our mission is based on the belief that collective awareness and action can lead to positive changes and support the Palestinian people's aspirations for justice and peace," the festival organizers said in a statement.

Screenings will take place at the Independent Synergio Theater, Neme Art Center, Tapper Bar Cinema Club, and the cultural and alternative bar Sto Dromo.

The festival will open at Synergeio Theater on February 15th at 8:00 p.m. with the screening of "Gaza Mon Amour." On Friday evening at the Neme Art Center, three documentary films, "Jenin, Jenin," "Three Nights in Haifa," and "Vibrations from Gaza," will be shown.

Screenings at Neme will continue on Saturday with the film "For Sama," followed by a discussion with scientist-ecologist and activist Kleitos Papastilianou.

On Sunday evening at the alternative bar Sto Dromo, four short films will be screened. At 10:00 p.m., there will be a Palestinian music evening featuring DJ Stelios Keriniotis.

All films will be shown with English subtitles.
